Life after social media

What happens to your online profile after you pass away? That’s exactly the question that Jacqui Cheng looks into on her article for Ars Technica.

According to Jacqui, Social Media sites are faced with an interesting situation when someone passes away, and that a specialized policy needs to be created. Some sites have already done this.

For example, Facebook apparently has a special form that friends or family can fill out to have action taken to a deceased users account. It can be deactivated, removed, or turned into a memorial.

Jacqui’s article is a good read, and it sheds some light on a topic that you might not have otherwise thought about.
