Google Street View for Kingston, Ontario

February 10th, 2010 by Chris Leave a reply »

Today Google released street view for the city of Kingston. I hope everyone was smiling all day back in July 2009.

I’ve also noticed that the facial blur isn’t 100% accurate. Same with the license plates.

These are photos that will be around for quite a while. I am really curious as to how frequently Google plans on touring the world to update its street view.

So let’s say your organization has a “store front” or your office can be viewed from the street. How does it look today? Clean? Inviting?

A little notice would be nice next time Google comes around. A chance to clean up before guests arrive. I guess that’s the beauty of street view, it really gives viewers the chance to see a day in the life of a tourist in the city of  ”_____” . But is a Google Street view car really enough? Not for Google. That’s why they have the Street View Trike, a tricycle with a camera that can reach all those places where Street View Car can’t. Their latest invention is the Google Street View Snowmobile, which they plan on using to cover the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver. You can read all about it here.

What are your thoughts around Google Street View? Too intrusive? Just what the world needed? Let me know in the comments.
